Apple confirms its storage, iCloud is on Google Cloud Server

CyberWisdom Safe Harbor Commentary on iCloud is on Google Cloud Server:

What is most likely to be an overlooked story from thenextweb.com reviews the truth about where Apple stores all iCloud backups. Between millions of customers’ photos, files, contacts, and other data, this is a huge amount of storage space the company needs to make room and manage. Now it’s confirmed that iCloud is actually on the Google Cloud Server.

CNBC notes that this revelation is based on an updated version of Apple’s iOS iOS Security Guide (PDF). In previous releases, it pointed out that iCloud content is stored on Amazon Web Services and Microsoft’s Azure cloud, but the latest versions refer to Amazon S3 and Google Cloud.

This should not be surprising: managing such a large amount of data is never easy and it’s perfectly understandable that Apple chooses to work with third-party vendors instead of spinning its own servers.

For this reason, it is accepted by the best two suppliers in the industry. Amazon earned $ 5.1 billion in revenue for Amazon in the fourth quarter of 2017, and Google’s cloud computing business generated more than $ 1 billion in revenue for the company during the same period. Interestingly, Google is smaller in this regard than Microsoft, which Apple Inc. gave up for its iCloud service.

Another iCloud development worth noting is that it is reported that Apple plans to provide encryption keys for data services to Chinese users in the country. The problem is that the Chinese government may force state-owned enterprises that hold the key to surrender to the investigation, which may even be routine supervision. It is unclear whether this will affect the company’s product sales in the country because its data is more subject to government oversight.
